Joella is a unique and personable therapist specializing in trauma, substance use, and mental health (Depression, ADHD, anxiety, PTSD). I use a strengths-based (and culturally sensitive) approach to get to the root of some deeper-seeded issues while incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and psychoeducation skills. I work primarily with adults, adolescents, and BIPOC. As a BIPOC and trauma survivor, I bring a wealth of professional and personal experience to assist one with cognitive processing, resolving family and interpersonal dilemmas, and more. I also treat those with Chronic illness, recognizing how physical health is strongly connected to mental health well-being. I have a wealth of community resources, and holistic approaches, and have served in several non-profits in the city throughout my vast experience. In 2020, I had the opportunity to speak at my first Tedx Talk.
I like to take a passenger seat as the client drives their therapy, and I serve as a catalyst to help them identify strengths, and areas of change, and empower them to work through issues. I set out to make for a safe space, ensuring that one is comfortable to heal and recover to the best of their ability.
I received my Master's degree from Kutztown University with a competency in behavioral health. I plan on obtaining my CAADC within the next 3 months to further assist with the opioid epidemic.
